The Welsh village of Meliden has an important historical and cultural past. Most significantly as a “Mining Village” in the middle of the eighteenth century which contributed greatly to the economy of the area.

Did you know that Prestatyn was once under the parish of Meliden?
It was not until 1896 as a growing community that Prestatyn became an urban district, as for Meliden, after the closure of the mine in 1884, the village no longer prospered but still kept its character and independence as it still does today.
